Acupuncture sessions are crafted individually every single time for every person. Thus, the time required to analyze and address each case varies. Even though there are standard protocols developed to address specific problems - they are rather "building blocks" to be arranged and modified according to each unique person and situation. Similar health concerns are addressed differently in young and elderly, in slim and heavy set, in rested and tired, etc. ..even morning and evening hours bring certain consideration into choices (that should not be surprising, from Western point of view as well, when we think about how hormonal levels and energy levels are changing throughout the day).
Generally speaking, the first visit may take up to 2 hours. The following visits are most likely to take less. I reserve 2 hours for each visit however, it can be as short as 30 minutes according to your individual needs or by request.
The scope of Acupuncture covers many tools and techniques (needle placement, warming up the points with an infrared device, applying pressure, grasping, pushing or specific tools and liniments to points or areas of body, stimulating points with electro current, etc.) - all those techniques are utilizing Points and Meridians Theory of Oriental Medicine and serving one goal: to return and maintain the Harmony of the Body and Mind. Skillful combination of points and stimuli is perceived by our body as a meaningful message -a "request" or "suggestion" if you will. It can mobilize and redistribute the body resources to areas of need.
There are many styles of acupuncture. I practice full body acupuncture style, incorporating references from Classical Acupuncture, Hologram Theory and German Auricular Medicine, to mention a few.
PLEASE NOTE
I am trained in Medical assessment and treatment for adults and limit my practice to those 18 and older.
There are instances that Acupuncture may not be the optimal treatment choice for you at the moment. If this is the case, I will inform you and give my recommendations of what could be more helpful.
EAT BEFORE YOU COME
If you come in hungry, we may have to limit what we do because acupuncture stimulates your body’s innate ability to heal itself which requires energy. Having nutrition and energy provides your body with something to work with.
Ideally, you have eaten 1-2 hours before your visit. If less, eat light meal or snack.
WEAR LOOSE COMFORTABLE CLOTHING
This will make it easier for positioning, accessing body parts and placing needles, as well as other treatment manipulations. Dress comfortably or I can provide hospital gowns for your convenience.
PLAN YOUR DAY AFTER TREATMENT
For best results, try to limit strenuous activities for 3-4 hours after treatment.
* My education and training allows me to extract information from Imaging and Laboratory reports. When available, please bring copies of those reports for my review.
